Day Trippin'

Christmas by Candlelight at Old Sturbridge Village, Sturbridge. Photograph by Steven Urbanovitch.

It’s a special treat this month as we are publishing two worthy seasonal visits.

Perhaps these daytrip suggestions should more accurately be called night-trips. The fabulous Night Lights exhibit at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill (11 French Drive, Boylston) opened on November 22 and runs through January 4. Half a million lights are on display every day from 4-10 pm. Check with your library to see if offers general admission passes to the Garden  – and then purchase special tickets on the Garden’s website at  https://nebg.org/ to be dazzled by Night Lights. The Garden is closed December 24 and 25 and January 1.

Old Sturbridge Village (1 Old Sturbridge Village Rd., Sturbridge) is a wonderful place to visit any time of year. But around the holidays, the evening program Christmas by Candlelight transforms OSV into a magical delight for young and old alike. Watch demonstrations of classic Christmas projects, stroll through the decorated Village and Christmas Tree Trail, listen to stories and live music, sample sweet treats, and more. Check with your library to see if it offers general admission passes to OSV and then purchase special tickets to Christmas by Candlelight on the OSV website at https://www.osv.org/.Christmas by Candlelight runs December 5-7, 12-14, 19-23, and 27-30 from 2-8 pm.
