Museum of Worcester

This day trip was a short ride to the Museum of Worcester (MOW). Formerly known as the Worcester Historical Museum, it is located at the corner of Elm and Chestnut streets in downtown Worcester. It showcases the Fuller Gallery of Industrial History filled with inventions developed and manufactured here in the city that affect our daily lives. You will be pleasantly surprised how rich in history Worcester is and the global impact it has today. A new exhibit, Worcester To the Starts: The Goddard Rocket Centennial, opened on March 16. Address: 30 Elm St., Worcester. Parking is available in the museum’s lot directly behind the building with entrance on Chestnut Street. The main entrance is on Elm Street. Phone: 508-753-8278. Hours: Open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am-4 pm. Every fourth Thursday until 8:30 pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.

The MOW also owns the Salisbury Mansion at 40 Highland St. in Worcester with hours Thursday-Saturday, 1-4 pm. Access is limited due to the constraints of the historic nature of the building: There is no elevator to the second floor and interior doorways limit access to first floor spaces and restroom. Admission: MOW or Mansion: $10; MOW and Mansion $15; 18 and under: Free.  W
